As browsers and the Web have grown, NPAPI has shown its age. Features such as clipboard access which used to require plugins are now available via native Web APIs. Mozilla continues to prioritize features that will make it possible for sites to switch away from plugins. Streaming video, advanced graphics, and gaming features have all become native Web APIs in the past few years. The same happens when I place the dlls out of dtplugin and plugin2 inside of %appdata%Mozilla/Plugins. Just a white page with no content whatsoever. If I open the applet page I am asked to to run Java and the warning message its outdated and a possible risk. Then copied the dlls out of dtplugin and plugin2 folder inside of the new "bin" folder.Īt the same level as the firefox binary i created an ini file to redirect the PluginFolder like so.PluginsDirectory=C:\Folder\Subfolderįirefox detects the Plugins and they are shown in the Plugins List (in between I uninstalled all installed java versions ofc). Delete all np*.dll files at the same level as the java binary. Moved the content of Java 121 bin folder into another folder. If I install 1.8.0_221 besides 121 it doesn't work anymore. Now its just a window which shows the applet which works fine as long as jre 1.8.0_121 is normally installed. Hid the tabbar, disabled menu access, disable ctrl-n for new tab and so on. The goal is to have ff 52.9.0 only accessible for the applet so I configured everything accordingly. Since they want to update FF and Java to a more recent version. The company I am working for asked me to create an independent Firefox instance with working Java plugin to still be able to work with a certain Applet.
